What qualifies for a monetised ranking

Products in a primary ranking must meet every one of these standards:

  • Technology-related product or service
  • Self-service signup or purchase
  • No required sales call
  • No required product demo
  • No mandatory six-month contract
  • Monthly billing available
  • Affiliate programme pays recurring commission
  • Preferably offers a trial period
  • Product-led growth where applicable
  • Useful to consumers, creators, professionals or businesses

How we verify

Pricing, trial length, billing terms and plan limits are checked directly with the provider and dated. Any field we have not confirmed is displayed as “Not yet verified” rather than estimated. A product with unverified data is never presented as a qualified recommendation.

How we rank

Rankings weigh usefulness for the stated reader, total cost at renewal rather than introductory pricing, quality of the free or trial experience, and how easy it is to leave. Every position carries original editorial analysis explaining the judgement.

Published and planned articles

Only published guides appear in listings, search results, structured data and the sitemap. Editions the desk is researching are shown as headline-only entries under “Coming soon”, with no page and no product data.

Updates and corrections

Each article shows published, updated and last-verified dates. When a provider changes pricing or plans we update the article and refresh the verification date. Corrections are noted in the article rather than made silently.
